About Mind Body & Spiritworks
Mind Body & Spiritworks is the natural outgrowth
of the original Mind & Bodyworks, established in
1999 by Tonya Parker to provide therapeutic massage
and bodywork. The current name more fully embraces the
concept of Tonya’s Natural Health Ministry and the scope
of services provided, including Swedish, deep tissue
and connective tissue massage, seated massage, Reiki,
Holistic wellness consulting, educational services including
a weekly natural health e-note, healthy cooking and
catering, and partnering with Conscious Living Services
to provide their line of products designed to awaken
the mind, body and spirit.
Tonya Parker has both a masters and educational specialist
degree in Counseling from The College of William and
Mary. She practiced as a Licensed Professional Counselor
in Virginia and served as a Prevention Specialist and
Corporate Trainer for many years. She is a graduate
of the Virginia Academy of Massage Therapy and is certified
by the National
Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
A member of the Associated
Bodywork & Massage Professionals, Tonya also
earned a Natural Wellness Certificate from Clayton
College of Natural Health. Currently she is a candidate
in CCNH's Doctor of Naturopathy for Healthcare Professionals
degree program. A Reiki Master Practitioner, Tonya has
received additional training in soft tissue injury repair,
myofascial pain management, shamanic and spiritual healing,
women's health, medicinal aromatherapy, conflict resolution,
human resources management, and ethics. For several
years Tonya has taught subjects such as counseling,
massage and public speaking at various colleges and
universities and trained in corporate and community
settings. She has contributed to various newsletters
and anthologies and is working on a book based on her
Natural Sistah’s News e-notes.
